FAQs
Please get in touch if you don't find your answer here
What are your fees?
I charge £38 per hour. This includes preparation, marking, resources and weekly progress reports.
What subjects do you cover?
I teach all subjects covered in the primary age National Curriculum, specialising in English and Maths. For many years I have taught Year 6, preparing children for SATS exams.
What happens when my child cannot attend a session?
If your child cannot attend their scheduled session, and I have been given sufficient notice, I try to offer an alternative slot. Sometimes it is possible to hold the session on Zoom or email the work we would be doing.
How do you take payments?
I email invoices for my sessions at the beginning of each half term. Payment is by bank transfer.
Do you set homework?
I don't set homework unless I or parents feel their children will benefit. Any homework I do set will consolidate a topic that we have worked on together.
Do you offer online tuition?
There are clear benefits to in-person tutoring with primary-age children. However, during the lockdown I was able to continue teaching online with great success. This could be an option if this is the best way to support your child.
When do you offer tuition sessions?
My tuition sessions run from 4pm to 7pm Monday to Thursday and ad hoc Fridays. I also run sessions during the holidays if parents think their child will benefit.
Do you only do one-to-one tuition?
I mainly run one-to-one sessions. However, I have taught siblings and schoolfriends in pairs and find that works well. There is a discount for this.
